ruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa. It is roughly the same size and shape as Israel or Wales. It covers about 20,000 square kilometres and extends 350 km from north to south and 60 km from east to west. To the west and south of the Kruger National Park are the two South African provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo. In the north is Zimbabwe, and to the east is Moçambique. It is now part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. The park is part of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, an area designated by the United Nations Education and Scientific Organisation (UNESCO) as an International Man and Biosphere Reserve (the “Biosphere”). Where nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms fuses with historical and archaeological sights – this is real Africa. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park of nearly 2 million hectares, SANParks – Kruger National Park is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. Truly the flagship of the South African national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Man’s interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries – from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela – is very evident in the Kruger National Park. These treasures represent the cultures, persons and events that played a role in the history of the Kruger National Park and are conserved along with the park’s natural assets.

Thanks webmaster, for this article ….. :happy_tb:
I saw the beautiful film, Marcel and Esther, of your visit to South-Africa-Namibie-Botswana) in 2003, and also the nice part about Kruger Park …….. a part of the world I haven’t visited …………….yet !!
Some of you already know that I am a lucky girl because my dear brother has ‘won’ a (very) short trip to South-africa with an election at his work ….. and he asked me to join him ….. yeah !!! :clap_tb:
It’s still hard to believe …. and because my boss allowed me some extra free days off I will be visiting South Africa in March for a few days……..not the Kruger Park, but the Pilanesberg N.P. ………
I am so very much looking forward to it !!! :laugh_tb:
Should you really go Gertie? Pilanesberg N.P. is not as spectaculair as Kruger N.P., so you realy should bring the tickets overhere…. :doh_tb:
I have seriously taken your suggestion into consideration :ponder_tb:, dear webmaster ……. and I have come to the following (well-considered) conclusion:
Because my brothers ‘seat’ cannot be exchanged (he’s the winner of the tickets, so he has to go) there’s only ‘my’ ticket left to give away …….. and I cannot find it in my heart to saddle you up (during 5 long days and nights) with my brother who likes to play (and sing) Frans Bauer music (very loudly)……… no no no ….. I couln’t ask that from you ……. :nono_tb:
I have a hart of golden and I only wanted to prevent you from a dissapointment Gertie, but if you insist…. Its upto you, You can’t say I did not warned you.
I never doubted your golden hart, Marcel ….. :innocent1_tb:
So thanks for your ‘warning’ and being so careful ….. but I’ve made my mind up!!! When I’m back you’ll be the first to know whether the Pilanes NP was a disappointment or not, ok? :smirk1_ee:
