o christmas is coming up and I have an easy listening musical suggestion for you. If you’ll have the opportunity listen to the song of Katie Melua with Thank You Stars. Katies debut single “The Closest Thing To Crazy”, went to number ten in the UK singles charts in December 2003. The album “Call Off The Search” reached number one in January 2004. The music of Katie Melua, who is kind of like an English Norah Jones, is not such a wild music I generally listen to, but when the romatic christmas time has arrived even I becomes weak… Katie Melua is a breath-taking artist and deserves all the success in the world. This song, like her debut album, is a delight from start to finish. And her voice conveys such emotion, it is breathtaking. Katie Melua was born in Georgia (former USSR) in 1984 growing up in the capital Tbilisi and later the seaside town of Batumi. The family left Georgia when Katie was 8 and moved to Belfast due to her father’s profession as a heart surgeon. When Katie told this to one of her teachers later on in England he described the move as: “from the frying pan into the fire”. She never really viewed it as that because she had a great childhood both in Georgia and Northern Ireland. Katie found the people in Northern Ireland extremely warm and made great friends at St. Catherine’s Primary School and Dominican College, Fortwilliam – Katie went to catholic schools in Northern Ireland while her younger brother went to a protestant school. So have a seat in an easy chair, lean back, and let the music flow :

THANK YOU STAR
KATIE MELUA
Some call it faith, some call it love.
Some call it guidance from above.
You are the reason we found ours,
So thank you stars.
Some people think it’s far away,
Some know it’s with them everyday.
You are the reason we found ours,
So thank you stars.
There are no winds that can blow it away on the air,
When they try to blow it away ‘s when you know it will always be there.
To some it’s the strength to be apart,
To some it’s a feeling in the heart.
And when you’re out there on your own, it’s the way back home.
There are no winds that can blow it away on the air,
When they try to blow it away ‘s when you know it will always be there.
Some call it faith, some call it love.
Some call it guidance from above.
You are the reason we found ours,
So thank you stars.
Thank you stars,
Thank you stars,
Thank you stars.
It’s good to hear that you become weak when listening to Katie Melua; I’ll remember that … :tongue_rolleye_ee:
I agree with you: she’s got a great voice. I too like to listen to her music. When I’m stressed or down, her music chears me up or gives me some rest, whatever I need in that moment; I’ve got her latest album ‘Piece by piece’ which also has some nice easy-listening songs. And I will not stop listening to her music when Christmas time is over …
Everytime I think I have something original, than I come to the conclusion that people in Breda already heard of it… Who do we believe, the webmaster or Breda-citizin…?
seems the webmaster is reacting here with a hint of ‘jealousy’, having a little hard time swallowing the fact that certain people from breda are sometimes ahead of him! :wink1_tb:
Well, mr. webmaster, we do listen to music here in Breda, in case you might think we’re deprived of modern technology …. :tongue_rolleye_ee:
So Katie Melua is not a stranger to me!
And if you need proof …… I can show you the CD next time you visit Breda. :cheese1_ee:
